'Final Fantasy 7' release date: What's new with the mobile version of the game?

Final Fantasy 7 Square-Enix

The mobile version of "Final Fantasy 7" is coming out with new features, and they may drastically change the fundamental experience of playing the iconic game.

First off, the game's controls have been tweaked a bit.

According to Gamespot, players will be able to use either a virtual analog stick or a directional pad that will appear on the mobile device being used to play "Final Fantasy 7." Although the new interface is slightly foreign, it doesn't change much about the game itself; but there are other new features that are likely to do so.

Another new feature added to the mobile version of "Final Fantasy 7" is the option for players to disable random enemy encounters inside the game. The random encounters can be disabled for both the world map and the area maps, which would, in theory, allow players to progress through the game much faster.

Turning off random encounters could present a problem however, as doing would seem to prevent players from acquiring valuable experience points that would allow them to get stronger inside the game, and this is where the other potentially game-altering feature comes in.

According to Android Authority, the mobile version of "Final Fantasy 7" now presents people with the option to maximize their stats and their levels without having to go through a litany of battles.

Going into one battle after another has always been a fundamental part of "Final Fantasy 7," and of the franchise in general. Hence, giving players the option to basically eliminate that from the game would seem to translate to a fundamentally different experience.

No other notable changes were made to the mobile of "Final Fantasy 7" aside from the ones already mentioned.

It remains to be seen if game developer Square Enix will keep the options to avoid encounters and to maximize stats when the mobile version of "Final Fantasy 7" is released for Android devices.
