'Fallout 4' DLC rumors: Bethesda confirms SteamDB listing is not a DLC

The mysterious listing for "Fallout 4" that popped up on the Steam Database had many thinking that Bethesda Games Studios is not over with the game just yet.

However, Bethesda vice president for marketing and public relations Pete Hines said that the listing is not an expansion, emphasizing that "Nuka World" was the last, but fans know that it is something.

"There is no more DLC," Hines tweeted to the latest Twitter user who asked about the purported "Fallout 4" DLC listing on SteamDB, adding "As I have said repeatedly."

According to speculations, the "Fallout 4" listing could be referring to a Game of the Year Edition. The timing appears to be right so Bethesda might be working on it.

This edition, as gamers would expect from such type of releases, will likely include a copy of the "Fallout 4" base game and all the downloadable content (DLC) released for it.

There are also reports that the listing is for the Virtual Reality (VR) support coming to "Fallout 4." Bethesda is allegedly targeting a mid-2017 launch, although it was already in playable condition as early as last June.

It is possible that the listing is simply a patch that prepares "Fallout 4" for the VR integration by making the PC version compatible with VR headsets, particularly the HTC Vive.

If fans were to take the word of Hines for it, they should give up on a new "Fallout 4" DLC as early as now as they will likely not be getting one.

But if Hines is messing with gamers, it might actually be another expansion pack, which fans will be happy to have as many were left unimpressed with the post-launch lineup of the game.

The flaw in this thinking is the reason Hines will misdirect fans. It is either Bethesda wants to make it a surprise should they be really working on a "Fallout 4" DLC, or there is no expansion pack launching at all.
