"The Taken King" expansion for "Destiny" will be adding plenty of new weapons and armor to the game upon its arrival.

In an interview with IGN, Bungie Community and Marketing Relations Manager Erik "Urk" Osborne said that there will be new items included in "The Taken King" expansion.

As for what those new items will be, Osborne said they will be made up of plenty of new exotics, including a bunch of new weapons and pieces of armor that players can start trying out as soon as they arrive via "The Taken King" expansion.

According to Osborne, many of the new exotics coming to "Destiny" will be partnered up with things that players have already shown that they want. Osborne said that Bungie is doing this in part to help players truly understand the full capabilities of all the new weapons and pieces of armor they have at their disposal.

Aside from news that new exotics will be coming to "Destiny" via "The Taken King," Gamespot has also reported that legendary weapons and pieces of armor that are already in the game will be locked into what they are now even with the arrival of the expansion. What this means is that players cannot enhance their current collection of items to the point that they will be just as strong as the new weapons and gear that are coming to the game.

According to David "Deej" Dague, Bungie made the decision to lock in legendaries to what they are now so that players will be more inclined to try out the new items in "The Taken King." Dague went on to say that with the new challenges coming in the expansion, players will ultimately need to utilize the new items provided to them if they want to make progress.

"The Taken King" expansion for "Destiny" will be available starting Sept. 15.
