'Destiny: House of Wolves': 'Trials of Osiris' event goes live

The new event in the "House of Wolves" expansion for space shooter "Destiny" is now live.

"Trials of Osiris" is a new event packaged on the second DLC by developer Bungie. It requires a three-man team versus team shooter in a Crucible multiplayer mode. In this, the two teams will battle it out for the most points during a given time period. However, there is no matchmaking support for this new challenge, and observers note this might make some combat sessions unbalanced.

"Trials of Osiris" is a limited-time event that is scheduled to run every Friday with the weekly reset on Tuesday.

The first "Trials of Osiris" event kicked off on May 22 at 10 a.m. PDT and was live-streamed via Twitch. Being the very first, this session was a charity event, with the winners picking their favorite charity for the rewards.

The PvP event is one of the end-game challenges that Bungie bundled with "Destiny Expansion II: House of Wolves." The other one, "Prison of Elders," is an arena challenge where teams of three Guardians must duke it out with hordes upon hordes of monsters, each wave with increasing difficulty. Legendary and exotic items await those who can clear the three difficulty settings for the challenge.

As of press time, a team led by Sunshadowr of "Crota's End" fame, was the very first to clear the "Prison of Elders" challenge mere hours after "House of Wolves" as officially released. The session became news as Sunshadowr and his team cleared the challenge with only the minimum Level 33, much lower than the challenge's Level 35 difficulty setting.

"Prison of Elders" and "Trials of Osiris" are end-game challenges included in the second DLC pack for "Destiny" released on May 19. Bungie decided on new challenges rather than a new Raid mode.
