Dell has yet to disclose their plans for the next-gen XPS 15 laptop. However, leaks have already surfaced regarding the features of the XPS 15's 2018 iteration. The highlight of the said premium laptop would be its 5K display support, as well as improved gaming graphics capabilities, thanks to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 video card.

According to Digital Trends, details regarding the upcoming Dell XPS 15 laptop came from the laptop maker's own website. The listing for the 2018 XPS 15 laptop was already taken down from the official website, although some people were able to save a screenshot of the details. A customer also claims to have spoken with a Dell representative, who confirmed that the XPS 15 refresh is happening soon.

One of the leaked features of Dell XPS 15 is that it can now deliver solid 5K graphics. According to WCCFTech, it would be an incredible feat for a 15-inch laptop like XPS 15 to sport 5K display. This would mean that the upcoming laptop will have a maximum resolution of 5129x2880 pixels, making the 2018 Dell XPS 15 the only laptop in the world to boast such impressive pixel count. Comparing this with the MacBook Pro 2017 that also features 5K support via Thunderbolt 3 input, the rumored laptop still beats the former in terms of pixel power.

Meanwhile, the Dell XPS 15 2018 leaks also show the laptop receiving NVIDIA GTX 1060 upgrade. This GPU is attributed to high-performance gaming laptops, meaning that the new XPS 15 could be the first in the series to be a powerful gaming notebook as well.

The 2018 Dell XPS 15 version is said to keep the same layout of the current laptop, with the exception of USB Type-C support. All in all, the next XPS 15 would include a pair of USB 3.0 Thunderbolt 3 ports, one USB 3.1 Type-A port, VGA and HDMI sockets, plus a Gigabit Ethernet port with Dell adaptor.

It is believed that the new Dell XPS 15 will be the most expensive notebook yet in the series, costing as high as $3,000. If the rumored 5K display and GTX 1060 video card features turn out to be correct, then the expensive price tag can easily be justified. The XPS 15 upgrade is expected to roll in January.
