The Dallas Mavericks may not be regarded as one of the favorites for the coming NBA season, but the team can surely try.
After that celebrated DeAndre Jordan incident, the Mavs found their season plans in total disarray and left scrambling for available big men they could get their hands on. One interesting find was JaVale McGee, an athletic center whose health has been put into question.
McGee has been out since 2013 as the 7-foot player dealt with injuries to his leg. He has often been placed under consideration by other teams prior to his signing with the Mavs, but nothing really came about. So now, the focus diverts to his actual health his readiness to play in the coming season.
He has been known to be best on the defensive end and put on a show with his emphatic dunks when given the chance. He can rev up the energy for his team, although the maturity level of his game has often been put into question.
Whether or not the long layoff had knocked in some sense into McGee will be known in the 2015–16 NBA wars and McGee says that he is nearing that elite level. He vows to give it his all with the Mavs and be ready by the time the Mavs open shop.
With the help of the Dallas training staff, McGee believes that being ready and back to his old form is doable. He has barely two months to prove that and a healthy player like him could be a big boost to the Mavs who want to make something out of the coming season.
"I'm definitely getting back to that elite level. The injuries really slowed me down, so I'm definitely going to get 100 percent healthy and come out and give it my all," says McGee in an interview with Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com.
