Following the season 6 finale of "Counting On," speculations about the TLC reality TV series' murky future have surfaced. While it was first believed that the stage was set for season 7, it appears that TLC took a step back instead of confirming the show's return next year. With this, fans are getting worried that "Counting On" is on the brink of cancellation, given the reports that the Duggar family is having some trouble with its member, Derick Dillard.

As reported by Inquisitr, TLC made a post confirming the season 7 renewal for "Counting On," only to be taken down shortly. Viewers consider this move as a bad sign that the network is thinking about ending the show for good. In Touch Weekly also mentioned that the reality show might have been cancelled after the season 6 finale last October.

While "Counting On" season 7 could potentially cover a lot of recent events in the lives of the Duggars, there are also a few reasons that will go against the show's renewal. For now, it is rumored that one of the family members is putting the show's future in peril. Derick Dillard, Jill Duggar's husband, is said to be making controversies recently and the name of the show is being dragged with him. It appears that Derick has made some negative remarks online that the Duggar family did not like. Thus, the family's Facebook page has not made any posts about him for the past several weeks.

The Duggars seemingly trying to conceal Derick from the public eye might be a way for the family to prevent bigger problems from happening. It is rumored that the family does not want Derick to end up just like Josh Duggar, who was also involved in numerous scandals that led to the cancellation of the Duggar's first reality show "19 Kids and Counting." If Derick further goes down the same path as Josh, it is possible that "Counting On" will also suffer the same fate as the first series.

Meanwhile, there is still hope that TLC will eventually greenlight the production of "Counting On" season 7. As reported by IBTimes, the other featured clan in the show, the Vuolos, are said to have a filming scheduled in the coming days. This news came from Diana Vuolo, who claims that "Counting On" will be covering her organization's event, which means that there is a lot more to see in season 7.
