The scare of not having guard Klay Thompson for the 2015 NBA Finals has been eliminated for the Golden State Warriors after the other half of the Splash Brothers passed the league's concussion protocol.
Golden State made the announcement last week after the director of the NBA's concussion protocol Dr. Jeffrey Kutcher gave Thompson clearance to play.
The 27-year-old, who returned to Warriors' practice Monday had been sidelined indefinitely after taking a knee from Houston Rockets forward Trevor Ariza in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals series last May 27.
In the fourth quarter, Thompson tried to fake Ariza who came in flying hitting the Warriors guard with a knee just below the right ear.
Thompson went down and headed to the locker room but later returned on the bench after being diagnosed with a right ear laceration.
He again went to the locker room after his right ear bled and was diagnosed with a concussion a few days after.
But it seems like everything is okay now for the All-Star as he joins the Warriors when they take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Finals.
"I feel great honestly. These last few days I feel like I've gotten my wind back, and tomorrow's the final tuneup. Just trying to stop the nerves and anxiousness," Thompson said following their practice Tuesday.
"I'm just trying to do everything to get prepared. They do have my best interests, so that's how I look at it," he added speaking about the team doctors attending to him.
Thompson has been a huge part of the Warriors' 67-15 regular season finish averaging 21.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals.
Despite struggling a bit with his consistency in this year's playoffs, he still averages 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 15 postseason games for the Warriors.
