Cleveland Cavaliers rumors: Irving hints being close to return

Kyrie Irving is expected to make his return this coming NBA season as well, although there is no official word on when.

For those following the real state of Irving, the previous word out was that the Cavs do not intend to rush Uncle Drew to make sure he makes a full recovery. With that said, it means Irving is unlikely to be around when tip-off starts in late October and that the earliest time that he could possibly be calling the plays on the floor is by January 2016.

Irving went down with a season-ending injury during game one of the NBA Finals, busting his knee cap that required surgery. He is currently in rehabilitation and from the looks of it, Irving is progressing just fine.

"I'm feeling great," Irving said via the Associated Press. "I'm taking my time with it. Obviously, it was a terrible injury but thank God I had the summer to start rehabbing and I'm definitely progressing in the right way. Whatever my timeline is, it'll be for the betterment of the team and for us to also compete for a world championship at the end of the season."

While Irving seems to be upbeat about his health, the thing is he did not reveal the extent of what he is now able to do physically.

Irving was a bright spot for the Cavs last season, averaging 21.7 points and 5. 2 assists per game. He was a key contributor to take some load off Lebron James and such was sorely missed for the remainder of the NBA Finals.

Right now, Irving is not worried about not being able to play immediately for the Cavs. He believes that as long as the team sticks together, all expectations from the Cavs will fall into place.

"All the expectations people put on us last year, we were aware of it. But for us, it was about us being together when it really mattered and showing people that this was a team to be reckoned with," he said.
