Its fall season and a number of TV shows have fallen too. Big TV networks like ABC, NBC, Fox and Lifetime have pulled out the axe on their non-rating shows and have decided to cut them away completely.
For ABC, the shows "Selfie" and "Manhattan Love Story" have been axed. According to Entertainment Weekly, partnering these two shows didn't help the ratings. "Selfie" only averaged at 5 million viewers.
"Selfie" was based on the play "Pygmalion." The lead character Karen Gillan's image was destroyed due to a viral video and a character named Henry was hired to help revamp her image. However, this concept didn't work out. While some like its first episode, it was still negatively reviewed for most of its other episodes.
As for "Manhattan Love Story," it was about a couple out on a blind date. But what it unique was the viewers got to hear what Jake and Analeigh were thinking. "Manhattan Love Story" went from 1.5 rating to 0.7, reports Business Insider.
For NBC, they decided to get rid of "A to Z" and "Bad Judge." "A to Z" is a rom-com and it only had 10 episodes. NBC decided not to order more episodes. It was about a love story between Ben and Cristin from "How I Met Your Mother."
"Bad Judge" was just bad from the beginning. According to Business Insider, there was actually more drama behind-the-scenes than in front of it. This move was expected.
But beyond the drama, the two NBC shows did very poor in the ratings department. "A to Z" only had 0.7 rating, while "Bad Judge" only had 0.9 rating.
For Lifetime, it's time to put an end to the sister's witchcraft. The network decided to say goodbye to "Witches of East End" as well as "The Lottery." Both Lifetime shows had poor ratings over the summer. "Witches of East End" ratings went down 42 percent and coincidentally, "The Lottery" also had the same low ratings, reports Deadline.
For Fox, saying goodbye to "Utopia" is not a surprising decision. The show was about gathering 15 people to live outdoors to create a civilization. It was chaotic and the ratings reflected that too.
