Blaze vs Surge specs comparison: Which Fitbit wearable is better?

 Fitbit website

Fitbit has released a number of new fitness trackers for hardcore fans. Between the Blaze and the Surge, which one should fitness enthusiasts get for a complete fitness wearable experience?

In terms of design and build, the Fitbit Blaze offers a more flexible look than the Fitbit Surge. Whereas the Surge looks and feels like a fitness tracker at first glance, the Blaze is much more sophisticated and looks more polished. In addition, its most noted feature is that it is the only Fitbit to date that has interchangeable strap. This means that users can mix and match their Blaze bands to suit their moods and even clothing.

The display of the Fitbit Blaze is also one of its strengths when compared to the Surge. While the apps and details are legible, the monochromatic screen of the Surge doesn't cut it when compared side-by-side with the full-color display that the Fitbit Blaze has.

Although the Surge loses in terms of design, it more than makes up for it in specs and fitness apps. Indeed, being branded as the priciest Fitbit tracker is not only for show. While it may seem steep at $249.95, the Fitbit Surge can last up to seven days on a single charge, two days longer than the Blaze. In addition, aside from the regular fitness tracking apps, the Surge also has add-on features like caller ID, music controls, GPS tracking and continuous heart-rate monitoring.

The fitness apps on the Surge are also for true-blue fitness enthusiasts, and users can even log in their daily workout summaries like calories burned, distances covered and calculated pace.

As for outdoor use, both trackers are water-resistant. However, Fitbit advises users against long-time exposure to water like swimming. However, both trackers can easily be used while outside in the rain.
