After being named the "2017 Sexiest Man Alive" by People Magazine, Blake Shelton, 42, has been on the receiving end of a blend of praise and criticism on social media. Nonetheless, his girlfriend Gwen Stefani, 48, says there is no man more deserving of the title than her boyfriend.

In an exclusive interview with People Music, Stefani vocalized how she thinks her boyfriend is perfect to be named the sexiest man alive. The rock star added that a sense of humor is the number one sexiest thing for her and she said that Shelton has that. She continued praising her boyfriend by telling how he is at the top of his game as well as being talented, genuine, generous, and cool.

For his part, Shelton told People Country in an exclusive interview that he tries to be a gentleman as much as possible. The country singer adds that he thinks what his girlfriend needs in her life is to be put on a pedestal, and that his goal is to be around her every single day.

The "No Doubt" singer and Shelton have been dating for around two years after having met in the reality television singing competition "The Voice." Their romance blossomed when they formed a bond after suffering from broken hearts at the same time. Shelton said that they both felt so betrayed at the time.

People magazine initiated naming the annual "Sexiest Man Alive" back in 1985 with the first title holder being Mel Gibson. The award is usually given out at the end of each year.

Shelton joked about it at first saying the magazine must have run out of people, and that they are down to someone symmetrical this year. However, Stefani has encouraged him to embrace the honor.

In other related news, the couple has teamed up to create a holiday track titled "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," and they will be hosting an hour-long holiday special for NBC on Dec. 12.
