Sweden are looking for their first win in the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup as they take on Australia in Group D Tuesday at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada after two draws against Nigeria (3-3) and USA (0-0) to start the tournament.
In their first match against Nigeria, the Swedes had a commanding a 2-0 lead only to lose it as Nigeria continued to attack, going all out for goals with nothing to lose.
Sweden went up 1-0 after an own goal scored by Nigerian forward Desire Oparanozie in the 21<sup>st minute of the match.
Ten minutes after their first goal, defender Nilla Fischer scored one more, helping Sweden to a commanding 2-0 lead before the break.
But the Nigerians came alive in the second half scoring twice in short succession, in the 50<sup>th and 53<sup>rd minutes, with goals from forwards Ngozi Okobi and Asisat Oshoala.
In the 60<sup>th minute with the match tied at 2-2, defender Linda Sembrant who came off the bench scored to regain the lead for the Swedes 3-2.
But Nigeria would not give up as forward Francisca Ordega scored a late equalizer in the 87<sup>th minute.
In their next game, Sweden proved to be a tough challenge for USA but were unable to come up with the victory as the match again ended in a draw.
Meanwhile, Australia opened the tournament with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of USA before their first win against Nigeria Friday.
Defender Kyah Simon was the hero for the Matildas after she all the goals for Australia in the 2-0 victory over Nigeria.
She had her first goal of the match at the 29<sup>th minute after a pass from forward Lisa De Vanna and again found the net in the 68<sup>th minute to seal the deal for Australia.
The Swedes will be aggressive with their offense and will keep on attacking to prevent a third draw against Australia who aims to get their second win of the tournament.
