Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS update to roll out for Moto X on AT&T by end of month

Good news for Moto X users under AT&T as the handset will receive the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS update by the end of the month.

According to Android Geeks, Motorola will begin to roll out the official Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS update soon. If the testing goes according to plan, the update will arrive by the end of August.

Currently, the Moto X handset is running with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS. It is safe to assume that the handset will skip the 4.4.3 version of the Android operating system as the Verizon Moto X models already received the Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS update, while the Sprint Moto X variants have received the Android 4.4.3 build instead. However, Sprint has decided to incorporate all Android 4.4.4 changes in the Android 4.4.3 release.

All those that are members of the Motorola Feedback Network have been notified by Motorola. These members should complete the survey first in order to test the future Android firmware on your device. All users who will be enrolling in the Android 4.4.4 KK soak test will also need to provide comprehensive feedback.

The feedback from the users will be used to make Motorola ready for the release of the new firmware build for all AT&T Moto X users by the aforementioned date.

Meanwhile, some Android-based devices are already enjoying the fixes brought about by the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS. The update is 2.5MB and is claimed to bring fixes to security issues such as the OpenSSL bug. "The software update will upgrade your Nexus 5 to 4.4.4, which improves performance, security, stability and fixes bugs," the update page which flashes on the devices reads.

The Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS update is a crucial update compared to the previous Android 4.4.3 Kitkat as the former brings the overall version of KTU84P firmware. The latest update brought very minimal changes to the devices such as slight changes to Chromium Web browser and WebView.
