During Apple's event in San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center this week, the tech giant unveiled its thinnest MacBook notebook, one that possesses a screen size of 12 inches. The product will only weigh in at 2 pounds and possess a thickness of 13.1 mm, making it 24 percent slimmer than the company's previous generation products. The 12 inch display does not exactly come close to rendering the Quad HD display, but its 2304 by 1440p resolution will still improve image and video quality by a significant margin.

Despite exuding such a high resolution, the notebook is still able to consume 30 percent less energy, primarily because it has been fitted with Intel's Core M processor, which has been manufactured on the 14 nm process. Irrespective of its thin form factor, the Cupertino tech company was still able to incorporate a full-sized keyboard, along with a new design called the 'butterfly mechanism' instead of the traditional scissor mechanism. Each key will have its own individual backlighting.

The energy efficient components stuffed in to the new MacBook will result in the product delivering up to 9 hours of battery life. As for the extra connectivity options, IGN states that the 12 inch notebook will include new 'USB-C' port, and its core function will be charging, data transfer, and video output. The website states that the tech company has collaborated with other firms in to making sure that future products and devices will have the same connectivity options.

As for the color schemes and pricing denominations, the MacBook will be available in in silver, space grey, and stunning gold. It will be available on April 10, 2015 in two price variants, with details and hardware specifications detailed below:

  • $1,299: 1.1 GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor (Turbo boost up to 2.9 GHz), Intel HD Graphics 5300, 8 GB of memory, and a 256 GB SSD
  • $1,599: 1.2GHz dual-core Intel Core M processor (Turbo boost up to 2.9 GHz), Intel HD Graphics 5300, 8 GB of memory a 512 GB SSD
