Apple iOS 10.1 news: New update brings users a hidden feature

Apple just released the new iOS 10.1 update for their mobile devices. While many consumers have been praising the new portrait mode for its camera, it turns out that the update also comes with a secret feature that heavily improves internet stability.

Forbes reports that update 10.0.3 updated the iPhone 7's modem firmware from 1.00.03 to 1.00.05, but the new iOS 10.1 update makes a big jump to modem firmware 1.01.13. The big leap comes with a carrier firmware jump from 25.0 to 26.0. All of this makes the iPhone 7's internet stability better.

It is further pointed out that iPhone users have been complaining in the past few months of their connection dropping from 4G or 3G for no apparent reason. Some consumers have experienced their 4G or 3G connection getting lost even though they have not left their current spot where the signal should be consistent and strong.

According to the report, the problem began as far back as September when the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launched. T-Mobile reportedly advised their consumers not to upgrade their iOS versions just yet because of the signal stability issues. By the time of this report, the problem had allegedly become rampant, even in China.

The recent iOS 10.0.3 update was reportedly going to fix most of these problems, particularly bugs and glitches, "including an issue where some users could temporarily lose cellular connectivity." However, this fix was solely for iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models from Verizon.

Forbes points out that Apple is being silent about this new feature as part of their company's damage control. This would be their third bug and glitch fix since the launch of iOS 10 in September. It is stated that Apple is trying to keep quiet to prevent any further PR concerns given that it has taken this long for the company to address an old issue.
