Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 finally rolls out

Samsung is known to be a bit sluggish when it comes to providing firmware and software updates to its flagship lineups. However, owners of the Galaxy Note 5 will be relieved to know that their devices will soon receive an OTA notification for an Android 6.0.1 update.

According to SamMobile, news of the Android Marshmallow roll-out came immediately after Samsung announced that the full version of the new platform is ready for release, starting with Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

The industry follower noted that the international OTA update started in Cambodia for the Galaxy Note 5 with build number N920CXXU2BPB6, and owners of the global, unlocked version will be receiving an OTA update soon.

Meanwhile, as with previous updates, fans who are waiting for the new platform version can manually check if Android 6.0.1 is already available for their Galaxy Note 5 devices without waiting for the notification. The manual update check can be accessed by opening the Software Update tab in the Settings > About Device options in the Galaxy Note 5.

In addition, the industry observer uploaded the full firmware version, which can be downloaded and installed manually by tech-savvy Galaxy Note 5 owners.

The staged roll-out of Android Marshmallow for the Galaxy Note 5 – and other Samsung flagship iterations – is a long-awaited one for Samsung fans. It has been some time since Google released its newest platform, and with talks of the next version Android N already appearing online, owners who are yet to receive the Android M update are starting to worry.

The Android Marshmallow update introduces many changes and improvements for mobile devices. According to Tech Times, the new App Standby and Doze modes in Android 6.0 will be a big help in managing the battery usage for the device. Meanwhile, Samsung announced that the Android 6.0 update also brings device-specific improvements, such as an enhanced edge screen for Edge display iterations, and updated user interface for premium flagships.
