While some are focusing on the upcoming Mobile World Congress to check out the upcoming latest smartphones, others are still waiting for firmware updates on their current devices. Good news though, is that the latest platform, Android Marshmallow, continues to roll out to different flagships. Recent reports suggest that the latest iteration to join the Android 6.0 update is the second-gen Moto G.

According to the update posted on the support page of Motorola Mobility, the new Android 6.0 update has already rolled out to the global version of the Moto G 2nd-gen. This means that owners of the device worldwide have most likely already received an over-the-air notice about updating to the latest Android platform.

Those who haven't received the notification yet, however, can still check if the update is already available to their devices by going through a manual update (About Phone > System Updates).

However, the announcement also cautioned device owners about updating to Android Marshmallow as the update is permanent. This means that once the Moto G updates to the new platform, owners will not be able to roll back to a previous Android version, whether it is Android 5.0 or 5.1 Lollipop.

Gadgets by NDTV said that aside from the list of improvements and new features for the stock Android 6.0 platform, the Moto G also receives some Moto-specific features when it updates to Android 6.0. Reportedly, the new update will remove the Moto Assist feature for the device since it basically mimics the Do Not Disturb feature of Marshmallow.

The industry follower added that the 2nd-gen Moto G making it to the Android 6.0 update list means that Motorola is pushing through with the update as fast as possible. Other Moto handsets listed for an Android Marshmallow update include the newest Moto X and Moto G flagships; Moto Maxx, Moto Turbo, Droid Turbo and the Google Nexus 6 iteration.
