Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 getting Android 5.1 Lollipop update

Nexus devices with Android 5.0 Lollipop Official Google Blog

Google finally unveiled the latest Android 5.1 build for its Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 smartphones yesterday, just a week after the mobile operating system for the Nexus 6 was updated. The new factory image for the 5.1 version of Android was given the build number LMY47I, and it is expected to roll out soon.

Google did not provide further details about what the new build will offer for the two Google smartphone models, but Android Central speculates that it will be a minor update that aims to fix several bugs just like the previously released update for the Nexus 6.

This will be the third Android 5.1 build released for the Nexus 6 in a span of several weeks, while the Nexus 5 gets its second update with the release of the new one.

Meanwhile, Phone Arena recently reported that several AT&T Nexus 6 users were experiencing difficulties when downloading Android 5.1 Lollipop in their devices. According to the report, it seems like the network carrier is still offering the Android 5.0.1 mobile operating system for their Nexus 6 devices, and those who received the notifications that the 5.1 version is already available for download only happens to be a fluke. It is also reported that AT&T is not supposed to release the update until June this year.

On the other hand, GottaBeMobile also reported that Android 5.1 will come to the earlier Nexus 4 release. The report mentioned that a test for the 5.1 update using the Nexus 4 was seen before the new mobile operating system went public. However, the report also claimed that Google may opt to release Android 5.1 Lollipop for the Nexus 4 quietly instead of releasing it with a fanfare.

Those who have the latest Nexus devices should expect the update to roll out very soon.
