AMD RX 490 release date: GPU leaked by AMD website; Release expected before end of 2016

 AMD

A lot of fans were surprised about the existence of the AMD RX 490, since a listing of this graphics card has been spotted online.

The listing appeared on AMD's official website, despite the fact that the RX 490 is still unannounced. However, currently the listing has been taken down after its short amount of seemingly accidental exposure. The good news, however, is that before it was taken down, a certain Reddit user was able to take a screenshot and share an image of the rumored listing.

As seen in the post, the AMD Radeon RX 490 does not in fact appear in a standalone listing; instead, it is supposed to be a part of a key code redemption program set by AMD that runs up until the end of 2016. With this, fans are already expecting that the rumored GPU will also get released at some point later this year.

Regardless, according to the Ecumenical News, this upcoming graphics card is considered to be a higher quality variant of the RX Lineup from AMD. Also, it could be possible that the RX 490 will be AMD's response to Nvidia's GTX 1080. If that's the case, people are expecting this GPU to at least provide virtual reality gaming support. After all, the GTX 1080 is powerful enough for VR gaming, so at the bare minimum the RX 490 should provide at least the same amount of power.

Additionally, gamers that opt to take a plunge into 4k gaming as well as its other forms could possibly rely on the RX 490 for support since it's expected for it to be a heavy-duty graphics card made specifically to cater to these requirements.

This, however, is certainly expected to come at a higher price, but it is still unclear whether or not the price will be on par with the GTX 1080. As such, fans are expecting AMD to provide more details soon.
