In a week's time, AMD will have its press conference which is said to showcase its newest Radeon GPUs based on the company's latest Polaris architecture. The event will happen at the upcoming Computex 2016, where other AMD products will be featured as well.
In an announcement, several big bosses from AMD will present to the public a number of their latest products, including the much-talked-about Polaris GPU and A-Series processors. The company's latest offering will be presented by Lisa Su, president and CEO; Jim Anderson, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Business Group; and Raja Koduri, senior vice president and chief architect, Radeon Technologies Group.
The AMD Polaris GPU was built using the latest new 14 nm FinFET process and will deliver better performance compared to the previous models. The upcoming GPU is said to be able to support HDMI 2.0a and DisplayPort 1.3, and will also be capable of encoding and decoding H.265 video with up to 4K resolution.
The community expects that it will not be able to go head to head with NVIDIA's GTX 1080 high-end gaming GPU, but the AMD Polaris 10 will possibly feature up to 8GB GDDR5x memory and a minimum clock speed of 7 Gbps. It is also rumored to contain 32 compute units, 2,048 shaders, and can perform up to 5.5 Teraflops operation. The said GPU is designed for mainstream use and high-end gaming.
Another upcoming GPU is the AMD Polaris 11 GPU, which will be offered in a smaller package and will come equipped with up to 4GB of GDDR 5 memory, 14 compute units and 2.5 Teraflops operations. Ultra-portable devices are being targeted by the company to carry this compact video card.
Aside from the Polaris GPUs, the company will also launch its seventh-generation AMD A-Series processors, commonly called Bristol Ridge.
The presentation is scheduled on June 1 at 10 a.m. CST/10 p.m. EDT, and will be streamed live via AMD's website.
