Acer Chromebook C910, C740: New Chromebooks for the 'school crowd' revealed

Last week, Acer unveiled two affordable Chromebooks targeted toward students. Not only are both Chromebooks budget-friendly, they also possess a robust build, which is extremely necessary for the school-going crowd. The larger Chromebook has been given the model name C910 and features a 15.6-inch display, while the smaller one is the C740 and features an 11.6-inch display.

Acer's offerings are expected to be equipped with Intel's 5th generation processors. If the company's 4th generation processors were able to deliver substantial levels of battery life coupled with impressive processing power, then it is highly possible for Acer's new Chromebooks to deliver substantial levels of battery life, too. According to Acer, the C910, which has 32 GB of storage, will be able to last 8 hours; while the smaller Chromebook, which has 16 GB of storage, will be able to give out at least 9 hours. This is exactly the kind of battery life that students need in order to get through a single day at school. The Chromebooks are not designed to handle extreme workloads like some machines and are only rolled out in order to handle entry-level applications and limited multitasking activities.

The C910 comes in two display models: one with a full HD display and the other one with a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels, which is the standard resolution that 15.6-inch machines possess. The smaller Chromebook is expected to feature the 1366 x 768 resolution.

The Taiwanese PC maker will be making the Chromebooks available to purchase in the month of February. And since nearly all Chromebooks come with a friendly price tag, the C910 will feature a price of $300 while the smaller machine will carry a price tag of $260.
