While it is already confirmed that Xiaomi's new smartphone will come out later this month, new speculations still crop up about the upcoming Mi 5. According to new rumors, Xiaomi is thinking of expanding the lineup with an iteration running Windows 10.

In a report by GSM Arena, it is mentioned that the source for the supposed new information came from a Chinese website, claiming that the China-based company is set to include a Windows 10 version of the Xiaomi Mi 5. The industry follower added that aside from the platform, the Windows 10 version of the new flagship will carry almost the same technical specifications as the Android model.

This means that the additional Windows 10 version will also feature a Snapdragon 820 processor, 3-GB/32-GB and 4-GB/64-GB RAM and internal storage variants, and a 3,600-mAh battery with the Quick Charge 3.0 feature.

According to Gadgets by NDTV, the upcoming Mi 5 is also rumored to come out with a 5.2-inch display with full HD resolution and a pressure-sensitive touchscreen, placing the same tech as Apple's recent 3D Touch feature on its products.

The industry follower added that a Windows 10 version for the Mi 5 is not that far off the mark for Xiaomi. The China-based company already has previous experience with devices running on a Windows OS in the past, most recently with a Windows 10 Mobile ROM for the Mi 4 and Windows 10 in the Mi Pad 2.

As to when fans might see the whole lineup of the new Mi 5 flagship, it was previously confirmed that there will be a stand-alone event in China on Feb. 24. Meanwhile, it is also expected that Xiaomi will simultaneously unveil the Mi 5 at the Mobile World Congress, which is set for Feb. 22  to 25 in Barcelona.
