Soon enough, button-mapping will be available for all Xbox One controllers.

This was the promise recently made by Microsoft's Mike Ybarra regarding then issue of button-mapping.

Ybarra shared the news on Twitter after receiving an inquiry from a fan. The fan plainly asked Ybarra why the button-mapping feature was then only set to become available on the Xbox One Elite controller.

In response, Ybarra indicated that the feature will be coming to all other controllers in the near future.

Just how soon is now the question, as Ybarra did not provide a specific date for when button-mapping would be available for every other kind of Xbox One controller, according to Gamespot.

For those that may not be familiar with the concept of button-mapping, it's basically a feature that allows players to configure their controllers in a way that they prefer. With button-mapping, players will be free to assign specific functions to buttons that may not be what the developer had mapped out for the game. The feature itself is meant to just make players feel more comfortable with the game and to speed up the process of getting familiar with it.

It's worth noting that Sony has already added the button-mapping feature to their controllers as part of a software update they released earlier in the year, The Verge reported.

Until button-mapping becomes a feature that is present in every Xbox One controller, fans will be glad to know they are getting a preview of the feature very soon.

The new Xbox One Elite controller is set to come out on Oct. 27 and it will come with the button-mapping feature. The controller also has other features as adjustable triggers and newly-designed rear paddles. It doesn't come, cheap however, as the Xbox One Elite controller will be available for $150 when it is officially released.
