Xbox One backwards compatibility rumor: 'Red Dead Redemption,' other triple-A titles coming?

Will "Red Dead Redemption" make its way to the Xbox One as a backwards-compatible title? Rockstar

Just recently, Microsoft decided to change the way it releases new games for the Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature. Instead of monthly updates, Microsoft will release and publish games as additions to the backwards compatibility games list as soon as they are available.

Meanwhile, as Microsoft recently added a triple-A title, CD Projekt Red's "The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings" as a backwards-compatible game, observers are saying that more major outings are expected for the Xbox One program.

According to Express UK, a recent poll by Microsoft gave fans a chance to vote for games they would like to see on the backwards-compatible list, and it was not a surprise that most of the top ten choices are all triple-A productions.

The report mentioned that among the top choices, only "Call of Duty: Black Ops" has been confirmed for the Xbox One program. Other games voted for by fans include "Red Dead Redemption," "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," "Mass Effect 3," and "Fallout: New Vegas."

The industry follower said that although neither Microsoft nor Rockstar Games confirmed "Red Dead Redemption" for the backwards compatibility program, it might be a good choice due to fan clamor. In addition, having the original title available on the current-gen console is also a way to prepare for the coming of a sequel, since rumors of "Red Dead Redemption 2" continue to float online.

Meanwhile, Microsoft also released a number of new releases for its other programs. Recently, the company had released new titles under its Games with Gold program, and as expected, there are also triple-A titles included in the mix. "Hand of Fate" is available for Xbox One players all throughout February, while "Gears of War 2" is available for the Xbox 360 from Feb.16 to 29.
