Microsoft has just released a number of new titles that made it to the list of backwards compatible games for the Xbox One. Included among them is "The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings," and fans can't help but wonder if some more triple-A titles will become available. According to rumors, one of the titles that might make it as an official backwards compatible game is "Left 4 Dead 2."
According to ShackNews, speculations have floated online about the next round of games to be added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility feature. A player was reportedly able to install "Left 4 Dead 2" on the Xbox One. The industry follower managed to figure out how the source got a copy of the classic zombie shooter on the current-gen Microsoft console, which included searching for a gamer with the tag "h2o acidic."
The player's profile listed "Left 4 Dead 2," and by clicking the title, the Xbox One Store will open and load the game. Afterwards, there will reportedly be a Download/Install option included, hinting that the game has indeed finished loading.
Microsoft has yet to come out with its February lineup of games to be added to the backwards compatibility program for the Xbox One, and those who are waiting might be disappointed if the list will be a short one. In an announcement on the Xbox Wire, Microsoft stated that it will change the terms for titles to be added to the Xbox One feature. Instead of monthly releases, the games lists will be expanded with classic titles as soon as they become available.
It is unclear, however, if Microsoft plans to bundle at least two or three available titles before releasing them, or if each title will be added to the list one by one.
The new backwards compatibility feature for the Xbox One was launched late last year, and with at least three months' worth of releases, the game list has been greatly expanded.
