The young career World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar Paige has recently come to an abrupt end, but it turns out that she was told by doctors to stop wrestling long before her injury forced her into retirement.

The 25-year-old British superstar, who is known as Saraya Jade Bevis-Rodriguez, suffered a serious injury to her neck after receiving a stiff kick from her opponent Sasha Banks during a WWE live event in New York City. The kick was so hard that it left Paige stunned on the mat for several seconds, eventually losing the feeling in her arms and legs. She tried to get up but was wobbly and flailing uncontrollably. She was definitely in no condition to continue the match in spite of her valiant effort to go on.

Initial examinations by WWE medical staff was that the superstar simply suffered a mild concussion but was later revealed to be something much more serious, and something that she might have to deal with for the rest of her life.

According to Pop Culture, Paige revealed in a podcast with former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia that she the doctors did not want to give her medical clearance to compete.

The injury was the same one that ended the career of another WWE superstar, Adam Copeland, more popularly known as Edge. The injury removed him from active competition when he was still one of the top wrestlers of his time.

All the WWE fans can do now is wonder what might have been if both superstars remained healthy and able to make the most out of their careers.

Paige was set to compete in the first ever women's Royal Rumble match this year in the pay per view event of the same name. Had the unfortunate injury not occurred, she would have been one of the favorites to win the match, and her taking part in Wrestlemania 34 would ensure that the women's championship match will be an exciting one regardless of who she faces due to her tremendous wrestling ability.
