The cruiserweight division of the World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) Tuesday show "205 Live" just got a new general manager (GM), and he comes in the form of British wrestler and former Impact X Division Champion Rockstar Spud, and he will be supervising the show under a new name: "Drake Maverick."

Maverick, who is known in real life as James Michael Curtin, was introduced by Smackdown Live general manager Daniel Bryan after it was previously announced that 205 Live will soon be having its own GM.

The British cruiserweight has been rumored to appear on WWE programming for weeks now, but was only able to appear on screen until the recent episode. Fans were surprised (and a bit confused) when he arrived as many knew his face, but none were familiar with his new name.

After he introduced himself to the WWE universe, the newly appointed GM wasted no time in organizing a 16-man single elimination tournament to determine who will be the next WWE Cruiserweight champion, since the title was made vacant after former titleholder Enzo Amore was fired from the company due to sexual assault allegations.

The finals of the tournament will be held during this year's biggest wrestling event, Wrestlemania 34, with many fans speculating that Japanese superstar Hideo Itami will be the one to win the title.

The first two matches of the tournament immediately took place during the episode, with Cedric Alexander defeating Gran Metalik and former WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate lost to TJ Perkins.

All four participants gave a spectacular performance reminiscent of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament in 2016, which served as the foundation for 205 Live.

It is unknown whether Maverick, a former two-time X Division Champion during his Impact days, will be joining the high-flying action of the division he runs, but being only 35 years old, the new GM just might lace up his boots and take off.
