It appears that there is going to be an upcoming movie that will be adapted from the popular massive online strategy game 'World of Warcraft.' It is expected that the upcoming fantasy film is going to be placed in the world of Azeroth. According to a Blizzard press release, the project was first announced in 2006, where the computer video game developer and publisher formed a partnership with Legendary Pictures.

Paul Sams, chief operating officer of Blizzard Entertainment, had stated: "We searched for a very long time to find the right studio for developing a movie based on one of our game universes. Many companies approached us in the past, but it wasn't until we met with Legendary Pictures that we felt we'd found the perfect partner. They clearly share our high standards for creative development, and because they understand the vision that we've always strived for with our Warcraft games, we feel there isn't a better studio out there for bringing the Warcraft story to film."

Filming of the upcoming movie commenced on Jan 13, 2014 and the entire project was finished on the May 23, 2014. While the plot details are extremely scarce, IGN states that the movie's core plot will be revolving around the first encounters between the humans and the orcs. Characters that will be appearing in the film will be Sir Anduin Lothar, and Durotan, belonging to the humans and orcs family respectively.

Sir Anduin Lothar, will be played by Travis Fimmel, and will portray the lead protagonist belonging to the human side. In addition, Toby Kebbell will be starring as Durotan, who is the noble Chieftain of the exiled Frostwolf clan, and will be battling to save his people and his family from the Shadow Council.

According to IGN, the film is scheduled to be released by Universal Pictures on May 11, 2016.
