Windows 10 update problems latest news: phones crashing?

Getting updates for devices is a good thing and chances are they are normally compatible with the devices. Rarely would you hear of an update causing more problems than solutions. In the case of the Windows 10 Mobile Build 10536, however, such seems to have caused more havoc than good.

The havoc part is in reference to devices which are not supported by the build, which have somehow made their way into the said devices and reportedly left a lot broke. Such was confirmed by Gabriel Aul of Microsoft who explained that using the build in devices that are not supported will essentially break the said device.

So how to fix it?

There is said to be one way to fix it and this is to reflash back to the factory image, which unfortunately most phones do not have. And with that in mind, Aul said Microsoft is currently trying to come up with a fix to the situation, particularly for the ones who have already installed the mislabeled build.

"We're working on repair options for the devices that were not supported but got the latest build," Aul said on Twitter.

There is no actual timetable for when Aul and his team would be able to release the fix. So the only option right now is for folks on Windows 10 to turn off the Windows Insider updates.

Microsoft released the Windows 10 Mobile build a couple of days ago to Fast Ring insiders, the first preview the company has made since August. The build had already been delayed before when Microsoft discovered a bug that prevented it from coming out last Sept. 11.

From where it stands now, it seems that the delay was not able to completely address the problems, with some smartphones reportedly breaking down.

This development becomes a disappointment for users who were hoping to see new features and improvements that include the addition of the one-handed mode, a Photos app update, and several fixes to existing issues.
