The Western cowboy-themed drama series "Westworld" will continue its streak of heart-pounding sequences with season 2 confirmed by HBO. As the production phase of the new chapter is still on-going, it should be expected that major information about the plotline will be kept under wraps. Regardless, fresh details are coming to light as the filming progresses.

Regarding the release date of "Westworld" season 2, HBO only confirmed a spring 2018 return of the TV show. As reported by Tech Advisor, it is likely that the fans will not hear anything about the series for the rest of the year. By 2018, promo stills and video teasers are expected to arrive little by little as the season 2 premiere nears.

"Westworld" has become a worldwide hit that HBO ordered the production of season 2 while the first season was still airing in November 2016. In spite of the early commissioning of a new season, it does not mean that the show will be able to return to television right away. It usually takes more than a year to develop a TV series as huge as "Westworld," so the spring 2018 release schedule for season 2 makes sense.

A lot of things can happen in "Westworld" season 2, although fans can only keep guessing without the official plot details coming from HBO. Still, cast members are free to spill the beans as the filming is not yet finished. One of the lead stars of the first season, Tessa Thompson, gave a hint on what fans should expect in season 2.

In an interview with TV Guide at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards, Thompson, who plays the fearless Charlotte Hale, teased that the oppressed women of the series will start to turn the tables. The actress revealed that "Westworld" season 2 will set up a female domination arc. It can be noted from the first season that the lead females of the series were described as weak and enslaved characters. However, the next chapter will show that "women are king," according to Thompson.

Gender politics is one of the interesting highlights of "Westworld" season 2, but the humans will also have to mind the robots that went haywire following the season 1 finale. The Comic-Con trailer for the series showed robots exacting revenge on people who once controlled them.
