We receive a new nature when we receive Jesus into our lives, says Joyce Meyer

Joyce Meyer says people get a new beginning and a new nature when they receive Jesus Christ.

A new beginning is such a wonderful thing and it often seems unattainable, but popular Christian speaker and author Joyce Meyer said that it is exactly what people get when they receive Jesus Christ into their lives.

Meyer shared in her devotional that there are so many positive things attached to accepting Christ, and people's lives are completely transformed because of it.

"God's Word teaches us that when we receive Christ as our Saviour and Lord, He gives us a new nature. He gives us His nature," she explained. "He also gives us a spirit of discipline and self-control, which is vital in allowing us to choose the ways of our new nature."

Meyer added that God gives Christians a sound mind, and this enables them to think about things properly without being ruled over or swayed by emotion.

What's more, every sinful deed and painful memory of the past are washed away by His forgiveness. "We have all the equipment we need for a brand-new way of behaving," she said.

Meyer warned that saying goodbye to the past and living a brand new life will not be easy, so Christians should seek God's guidance in prayer. Pray that God "help me to leave the old ways behind today and live a brand-new, joy-filled life of victory in You," she urged.

With God's love and guidance, Christians have the power to conquer every sin and temptation that comes their way in the future, no matter how difficult that might be.

"With God's help we can choose spirit over flesh and right over wrong. Our renewed spirits can now control our souls and bodies or, to say it another way, the inner person can control the outer person. Then we can live out God's plan for our lives," Meyer said.
