'Wayward Pines' spoilers: Ethan finally learns 'the truth' about the creepy town in episode 5

What will Ethan find out in Wayward Pines Season 1 episode 5? fox.com/wayward-pines/

Something big is about to go down next week in the midseason episode of FOX's twisted thriller "Wayward Pines."

Early this month, filmmaker/ executive producer M. Night Shyamalan told Overmental that fans do not have to wait until the season finale to find out what is really transpiring in the eerie little town called Wayward Pines.

"You never want to put that paradigm shift [a twist] at the very end because you want to live in the new world, and this allows me to live in that new world for the whole second half of a season," Shyamalan explained.

It seems like the director aptly described the upcoming fifth episode called "The Truth," which could mean that Ethan (Matt Dillon) finally gets to learn the town's creepy secret that has been bugging him since he mysteriously woke up in Wayward Pines without knowing how he got there. But while his wife Theresa (Shannyn Sossamon) is still having a hard time understanding the mysterious events that are happening in that strange town, their son Ben (Charlie Tahan) gets significant information about the place in his new school.

The official episode synopsis reads:

Ethan ventures outside of Wayward Pines and is shocked by what he discovers. Meanwhile, Theresa reports to her new realty job and meets her first client who is as confused as Theresa about the eerie town and Ben goes through orientation and learns the truth about Wayward Pines from his teacher Megan Fisher (guest star Hope Davis)."

But why would Mrs. Fisher divulge something important to Ben? Will this make the sheriff's son more comfortable in his new home, or will it give a cloud of suspicion about his parents' real motives on why they are in the new town in the first place?

"Wayward Pines" episode 5 airs on Thursday, June 14, on FOX.
