Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2017 rumors: Gigi Hadid not going because of racist video?

For fans who have been early waiting for the 2017 Victoria's Secret (VS) Fashion Show, probably one of the biggest shockers is the latest announcement by Gigi Hadid. The model girlfriend of former One Direction band member Zayn Malik had recently revealed that she would not be joining other models in walking the runway in China.

Last week, Hadid took to Twitter to announce that she could not be on the show. "I'm so bummed I won't be able to make it to China this year," Hadid said, but she assured everyone that she would be with the girls "in spirit."

She also hinted that she might be in next year's VS Fashion Show but did not disclose any reason as to why she would not be a part of this year's show. Some followers, however, attributed this to her alleged mockery of Asians in a video, which had earned the ire of fans, particularly Asians.

The video showed Hadid seemingly mimicking a Buddha cookie by squinting her eyes at a restaurant, which had made Chinese slam her in her social media accounts, with some saying that she was not welcome in China, while others downright called her racist.

Fans and supporters of the 22-year-old model might remember that before the debacle, she had revealed in an Instagram post in August that she would be joining the roster who will grace the runway in Shanghai, China. "Forever and ever and ever a dream come true to be asked back to the VS Show !!!" Hadid captioned the photo and added a #VSFS2017.

Meanwhile, reports say that Hadid was not the only Angel to be missing out on the 2017 VS Fashion Show in Shanghai. Other models who reportedly will not join the show are Julia Belyakova, Kate Grigorieva, Irina Sharipova, and Dasha Khlystun. Some reports said that this was due to problems with their visas.
