Vester Lee Flanagan, a disgruntled former news reporter, shot dead two of his ex-colleagues during a live TV broadcast this morning.

Viewers tuning into watch WDBJ, a CBS affiliate channel in Virginia, watched as Flanagan shot dead reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward during a live segment at 6.45 a.m.

After the shocking murders, Flanagan rented a car at a nearby airport and drove off. He refused to stop and finally crashed his car after police surrounded the car. He had attempted suicide and was found with life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound.

Prior to his attempted suicide and while being pursued by police, Flanagan posted a series of tweets to Twitter to explain his reasons for executing his former coworkers.

Flanagan said that Parker was hired by his station despite a complaint being filed against her through the equal employment opportunity commission that she had made 'racist comments'.

Shockingly, Flanagan also posted a live video of the cold murders and posted it to Twitter under the name Bryce_Williams7. The footage, which has been taken down, reportedly shows him approaching his former colleagues as they were interviewing the local chamber of commerce, Vicki Gardner.

The video shows him first shooting Ward before turning to Parker. Both were killed on the scene. Garner was taken to hospital and is reportedly in stable condition after undergoing emergency surgery.

More updates coming.
