A six-episode arc of the new "Veronica Mars" is currently in discussion between series creator Rob Thomas and actress Kristen Bell.

Initially planned for the follow-up of the 2014 limited release, the new "Veronica Mars" will be returning to the episodic television format. The TV series was cancelled back in 2007, which ran for three seasons on UPN and The CW.

The movie was made possible through a Kickstarter campaign that raised $2 million, which exceeded its proposed budget. However, for the upcoming TV series, fans no longer need to pay to watch the next chapter of "Veronica Mars."

Thomas said that he and Bell are figuring out a way to bring fans something new about the mystery show. He also said that the series will indeed be happening, but as to when it will be aired – it is still up for discussion.

"We are willing to put the effort in. I mean, if I have to do it as Murder She Wrote at 80, we're going to do it. It's going to happen," Bell told Indiewire. Fans will see more of the girl detective as she is set to solve more mysteries. This will remind old fans why the series ran for three seasons.

Currently, Bell is starring on NBC's "The Good Place." The actress said that it would be very impossible to do two televisions, which is the reason why the new "Veronica Mars" will only have half-a-dozen episodes. Bell said that both she and Thomas are more excited at the fact that this time, fans no longer need to pay for the new episodes.

Fans of the show expressed that they do not mind even if the upcoming series took so much time to happen. However, some fans warned the showrunners to not screw up the series.
