It sure looks like "The Vampire Diaries" has more to offer despite actress Nina Dobrev's exit last season. Recent spoilers claim that more exciting things will happen in Mystic Falls once The CW's supernatural drama returns for season 7 this fall, which will make the grieving characters busy despite Elena's (Dobrev) perennial comatose state.

In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Caroline Dries hinted that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan's (Paul Wesley) vicious mother Lily (Annie Wersching) will be a big threat to the Salvatore brothers, especially since she can manipulate them easily. After being imprisoned since 1903 in another time dimension, she is finally free, but it seems like she is prepared to wreak havoc in Mystic Falls with her family of heretics. The Salvatore brothers must prepare for an ugly battle with their own mother in order to prevent her from ruining the innocent lives in the city.

Dries also shared that Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will have to make a big decision in the upcoming season. He will be compelled to pick which of the two warring factions he would side with.

"He's eventually going to have to choose a side. In some ways, he feels drawn to Lily; she turned him and she's the only real family he has. But he's also friends with Damon, so it's going to create an interesting dilemma, and whichever side he chooses will have serious ramifications," the series exec shared.

Meanwhile, Somerhalder revealed that the seventh season of "The Vampire Diaries" will feature the same elements that loyal fans loved during the first two seasons of the series.

"The dark, the sexy, volatile, the unpredictable — these are all things that we look to encompass that was sort of enveloped in this season of the show," the actor told the Entertainment Tonight

"The Vampire Diaries" season 7 will air on The CW startig this fall.
