With "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" already out, what is next for the series? Speculations suggest that fans may look forward soon to the movie adaptation of the franchise.
In a recent interview with game director Neil Druckmann, it is revealed that while there are ups and downs in the production, the movie adaptation for "Uncharted" is still in the pipeline.
Druckman said, "Every once in a while they'll come in and they'll present to us: here's the script, here's what we're thinking. We'll tell them what we think works, what we think doesn't work," the game director stated, adding that "That's where we're at. Last I heard is they got a new screenwriter, but we haven't seen anything in a while."
Druckman also stated that fans will appreciate that the movie will not be very different from the games, at least in design and story.
The game director stressed, "The most important part to get right is Nathan Drake, Nathan Drake's relationship with Elena and Nathan Drake's relationship with Sullivan. If you don't get that right, I don't think the film's going to work. If you get that core right, there's a chance it could work."
Meanwhile, Movie News Guide reports that based on supposed leaks, another Drake is set to come out in the "Uncharted" world. Reportedly, Sony has pre-release materials that tell about main protagonist Nathan Drake's older brother. Apparently, Sam Drake had been a prisoner for decades, but it is unconfirmed if the story will be set before or after the events of "Uncharted 4."
It is also unclear if the older Drake will figure in the movie adaptation or as a planned expansion after "Uncharted 4."
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" released worldwide early last month and is the last sequel in the story of main protagonist Nathan Drake.
