The owners of a bed and breakfast establishment in northern Yorkshire that recently won the TripAdvisor Traveller's Choice Award revealed that they run their accommodation according to the Rule of St Benedict.

The Traveller's Choice Award is given to establishments that have built an exceptional record on TripAdvisor's website based on positive reviews left by users.

According to Sue and Andrew Burrell of the Millgate Bed and Breakfast, they manage and entertain guests based on the dictates of the Rule, which states that they should take visitors in the way they would "welcome Christ."

"We receive all of our guests with love and kindness and I think this award is reflection of that," Mr. Burrell told the Catholic Herald. "We don't pretend to be luxurious – we are in a historic house down a little lane in north Yorkshire, but what we do is focus on the service we offer our guests."

Mr Burrell said that the limited capacity of the bed and breakfast, which was only recently established in 2012, is a plus when it comes to extending great customer service.

"We have three rooms and can only accommodate six people so we are able to offer a real one to one service," he said.

Guests are normally welcomed into Millgate with a complimentary cup of tea and freshly baked scones. This hospitality has endeared the small establishment to the hearts of many guests, who have left favourable reviews behind on TripAdvisor.

"I was, of course, very familiar with the reputation of their amazing Georgian home and garden. What I wasn't familiar with, or ready for, was their wonderful hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble," one reviewer wrote.

Even though the Traveller's Choice Award does not come with monetary compensation, it has provided more than enough in exposure and business for the Burrell's establishment. According to the Catholic Herald, the B&B is fully booked for the next 12 months.
