Tips for Jesus leaves $2,000 tip in San Francisco

The New Year is off to a good start for servers in San Francisco City, as Tips for Jesus has left a $2,000 tip to employees of a Tacolicious branch in San Francisco City.

According to the report by SFGate, Tips for Jesus left a $2,000 tip to the servers at the Valencia Street branch of Tacolicious. A member of the Valencia Street Tacolicious staff confirmed the news to the publication, and hints that the tipper is a regular patron of the diner. "[H]e's amazing," the staff member was quoted as saying.

Tips for Jesus also posted a picture of the receipt on January 3 to his Instagram account. The photo showed a total bill of only $50.74. The tip was addressed to "Manny, Jarden [and] the crew of Tacolicious in the Mission."

Fox News previously reported that Tips for Jesus recently gave a Christmas gift to bartender Clint Spotleson, who works at Crudo in Phoenix, Arizona. According to the report, Spotleson received a record-breaking $10,000 tip from an anonymous tipper for a bill that totalled only $89.89. The tipper had also closed an initial tab that totalled $331.40, which also received a $1,000 tip, but decided to stay for another round of drinks with his companion.

Spotleson told Fox News that the gift was perfect timing. "I've been having some car issues," he said.

Tips for Jesus began handing out tips in September 2013. On September 8, 2013, the mystery tipper left a $3,000 tip after dining at the Bar Louie in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Although the identity of the tipper remains unconfirmed, an article published at the International Business Times in 2013 reported that a server in Bo's Kitchen in New York identified the benefactor as Jack Selby, former vice president of Paypal.
