Science fiction series "The X-Files" will return next year for season 11 where fans will once again see Agent Mulder and Agent Scully. Another thing that makes the next season exciting are the episodes penned by fan-favorite writer Darin Morgan.

Although there are only a few details of the show, actor David Duchovny, who portrays Mulder, hinted about what to expect from the upcoming season. Apart from that, he also expressed his admiration to the writing of Morgan.

"What I personally love in [Darin's episodes] is that he hates Mulder," Duchovny told TVLine with a laugh. "He's always trying to make Mulder an imbecile and the butt of every joke."

The star added that he finds it challenging to play his role as Mulder whenever Morgan writes the story. He may find it fun to be the quasi-victim, but he admitted that it is challenging when his character is such a fool. He said that he needed to keep the character of Mulder even if the scene is humorous. The 57-year-old actor added that he is pressured because he loves Morgan and he wants his episodes to have integrity.

ComicBook notes that one episode that marked in the minds of the viewers is the first episode "Humbug," which Morgan wrote. In that episode, he focused on a group of murderers in a traveling circus. It deviated from the usual intense tone of the show by incorporating humor into it.

All of the episodes that Morgan wrote were positively received by viewers. Because of this, he contributed to the show's six-episode return in 2016. Morgan will also write episodes for "X-Files" season 11. According to series creator Chris Carter, these episodes are "original, smart, funny...everything you expect." Carter also added that the Morgan-written episodes will feature a big link to previous episodes of the sci-fi series.

"The X-Files" season 11 will premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
