Fans have been waiting for the official release of "The Winds of Winter," the sixth book in the "Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R.R. Martin. Despite no official release date being announced just yet, fans can get a glimpse of a preview chapter when purchasing the new "Game of Thrones: Enhanced Edition" for iBooks.

As reported by Screen Rant, the excerpt is not entirely new as it is the same "Mercy" chapter that was previewed on Martin's official website. This is the latest preview, however, giving fans of the franchise another sneak peek into the series before the new book launches.

This preview focuses on Arya Stark and her continued journey to exact revenge against the enemies that were responsible for killing many of her relatives — enemies such as the Lannisters and the Freys. The "Game of Thrones" television series gave fans a look into what she may get into, although it should be noted that the books and show have numerous significant differences between them.

Apple's announcement reveals that the "Enhanced Edition" features the original "Game of Thrones" book, but it also comes with an interactive interface and new options that allow readers to read the lineage of each major and minor house, and to see the journey of each major character on a map and more.

"We're now entering a new period in the history of publishing. Anything that confuses you, anything you want to know more about, it's right there at your fingertips. It's an amazing next step in the world of books," Martin mentioned in an official statement.

It is also confirmed that all of the books in the series will get an enhanced edition, solely on iBooks. The first book is already available, and the second title, "A Clash of Kings," will be available on Oct. 27. This will be followed by "A Storm of Swords" on Dec. 15, "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons" by early next year.
