'The Walking Dead' season 7 spoilers: Melissa McBride teases Carol's fate

Character portrait of Carol Peletier (Melissa Mcbride) from the series "The Walking Dead" AMC/The Walking Dead

Carol (Melissa McBride) is one of the most dynamic characters of "The Walking Dead." However, the character may not last much longer as actress McBride teases that she could be leaving the group at the Alexandria Safe Zone or that she might be killed off similar to her end in the original comic books.

Speaking to Comic Book, McBride was initially asked if season 7 could further explore a romantic relationship between Carol and Daryl (Norman Reedus). The two have shown strong chemistry over the course of the series, and it would make sense for them to get together, but her response hinted that Carol might not be around for a relationship to ever take place.

"This is a different season," McBride explained. The actress further said: "She's definitely got some healing to do in her mind and where she wants to be on this earth, or she wants to stick around or what. I think she's just got to get her mind right before she can even entertain any sort of relationship."

Fans will recall that back in season 6, Carol starting feeling guilt and remorse over her actions and over how she had become a cold-hearted killer. Much of the latter half of season 6 saw Carol trying to become a pacifist, but due to the constant threats attacking Alexandria and its people, her pacifism didn't last long.

In the original comic books, Carol died very early on, and it was her daughter, who was later to be adopted by Maggie (Lauren Cohen), who made it to Alexandria. In the series, it was her daughter who died, and Carol went from a weak-willed survivor to a brutal serial killer and now into a repentant pacifist.

McBride's words hint that the character may permanently leave the group to find peace or that she might be killed off, either by Negan's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) group or by zombies. In the comic books, Carol committed suicide by feeding herself to a group of zombies, and this may be how she will die in the show.

"The Walking Dead" season 7 is slated to premiere on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
