'The Sims 4' PS4, Xbox One release date: Console version rumored not to arrive this year

EA and Maxis, the game developer and publisher, seem to be having trouble coming up with a version of "The Sims 4" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One video game consoles. The long delay of the ported version has prompted the fans to speculate that it may not arrive this year.

Neurogadget reported that the delay of the game for the consoles is due to major technical difficulties. Fans have been waiting for the ported version for more than a year and a half since the game was dropped for the PC. There is also no word coming from EA.

Another rumor going around the community is that the developer wants to include all the DLC available for the PC version, to be bundled up together with the game upon its release for the console. From a marketing standpoint, it does make sense. This will encourage the players to purchase the game because of its added features.

It was also previously reported that the game is planned to have two packages, similar to the previous games, "The Sims" and "The Sims 2." The standalone game may be priced at US$59.99 to US$69.99, while the bundled package will have a higher price tag. This will come with the additional DLC and game packs.

Meanwhile, PC gamers are also speculating that two additional expansion packs and a game pack may arrive to the game. This is in relation to a survey received by Sims players last October, where it mentioned about "City Living" and "Supernatural" expansions packs, as well as pets being introduced to the game. However, no official word from the developer has been heard with regards to these, according to another report from Neurogadget.

Currently, the game has received a total of two expansion packs, three game packs, seven stuff packs and two extra DLC packs.

"The Sims 4" is available for Windows and Apple OS X.
