'The Sims 4' for PS4 and Xbox One release date: 2017 launch expected for console version

 EA/Maxis

"The Sims 4" may have started with a rocky launch, particularly due to the online features and bugs, but the game has managed to even out as one of the developer's most successful games. However, the expected PS4 and Xbox One ports have yet to be released, and according to Neurogadget fans may have to wait even further until 2017.

According to the report, developers Maxis and The Sims Studios regularly release the console ports of their games within a limit of two years. "The Sims 3" was released back in 2009 and the console port for the games were launched in 2010. "The Sims 4" launched for the PC back in 2014 but to this date there is no console port.

The report points out that the developers are instead focusing resources on the DLC packs for the PC version of the game. "The Sims 4: Dine Out" is the latest DLC expansion set for the game and is currently scheduled for release on June 7.

"The Sims 4" publisher, Electronic Arts, has yet to make an official statement regarding the release of the console version of the game. However, the report points out that the company may be focusing solely on DLC packs for the time being and then release the console ports with all of the DLC already included.

It is possible that the vanilla game will be released for PS4 and Xbox One and cost the average retail price of $59.99 or $69.99 upon release but fans speculate that there will also be a special edition that comes with all of the DLCs included and this may cost a significant amount more.

If this proves true it will mirror how Maxis and EA marketed "The Sims" and "The Sims 2." The vanilla ports were released as a full-priced game and were later sold as a bundle with the DLC packs included but now at a higher price.
