The fifth and final episode of the CW's supernatural drama series "The Originals" will feature an interesting development in the mother-and-daughter relationship of Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin) and Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell). Things will be different in season 5 as the hybrid witch daughter of Hayley and Niklaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) is now a fully grown teenager, and she is mature enough to analyze her mother's budding new romance with a new character.
According to the latest spoilers, "The Originals" season 5 will have an eight-year leap following the events of the season 4 finale. Due to the repercussions of the Original family's encounter with the all-powerful entity known as The Hollow, they have decided to live far away from each other, with Hayley and Hope now residing in Mystic Falls. Within those years, the characters have met a lot of people, and for Hayley, she might have found someone who could replace Elijah (Daniel Gillies) as the love of her life.
The fans are hoping that Hayley and Elijah can still have their happily ever after, but the future looks grim for the two in "The Originals" season 5 as the latter had his memories erased and relocated to France to start a new life. This means that it would take a long time for Elijah to recapture his romance with Hayley, especially as Hope's mother is seeing someone else. Hayley will try to build a relationship with a human named Declan (Torrance Coombs), but Hope may have something to say about her mother's decision to enter a new relationship.
In other news, the CW has already greenlit the spinoff series of "The Originals," which will star Hope Mikaelson. Recently, "The Vampire Diaries" alum Matthew Davis has been added to the cast of the upcoming show, reprising his role as Alaric Saltzman. The fans could see a lot of interaction between Alaric and Hope in the show, given that the former is a student in Alaric's school for gifted supernaturals.
"The Originals" season 5 will premiere on Apr. 20 at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.
