The final season of CW's "The Originals" is expected to showcase the talent of its powerhouse cast for one last hurrah. Season 5 will tie all the loose ends from the previous chapters, including the mystery surrounding Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Hayley's (Phoebe Tonkin) hybrid witch daughter, Hope (Danielle Rose Russell). Although, a special episode will be dedicated to one of the shows Original vampires, Elijah (Daniel Gillies).
As reported by TV Guide, "The Originals" season 5 will reserve one episode that is fully centered on Elijah Mikaelson. To note, Gillies' character is among the most complex characters the show has ever introduced, and the special episode will be a great way to show how much the fans do not know about him.
According to "The Originals" season 5 creator and showrunner, Julie Plec, Elijah will be the highlight of one particular episode, in which the viewers will see the character's journey seven years after the events of the season 4 finale. To recall, Elijah was separated from his siblings, Klaus, Rebekah (Claire Holt), Kol (Nate Buzolic) and Freya (Riley Voelkel), as a consequence of defeating the series' most powerful enemy yet, the Hollow. Elijah also requested to have his memories erased before he bid goodbye to his family, which makes his journey even more interesting to watch.
"Three episodes in, we actually get an episode that is Elijah from start to finish, and it's the first time we've ever done that," Plec said. Based on Plec's statement, it appears that this special episode in "The Originals" season 5 will have Elijah in every moment, which is understandable as his siblings are nowhere to be found all those years.
Meanwhile, TVLine reported that "The Originals" season 5 has already cast Elijah's new love interest. The character will be portrayed by "Once Upon a Time" actress Jaime Murray. She will play Antoinette, who is described as a "beautiful, old-school vampire." Antoinette is said to meet Elijah after the latter lost his memories, although the new vampire in town has her own dark memories to conceal.
"The Originals" season 5 will premiere in 2018.
