In the next episode of "The Mick," Mackenzie Murphy (Kaitlin Olson) receives some bad news about her ex-boyfriend Jimmy (Scott MacArthur).

The trailer and promotional photos for the upcoming installment, which is titled "The City," were just released recently, and they show Murphy in her sister's penthouse loft in New York City with her nephews and niece.

All of a sudden, the doorbell rings which prompts Murphy to open the door. A policewoman greets her and asks if she is Mackenzie. Thinking that she is wanted by law enforcement, Murphy turns around and runs away. She goes up the flight of stairs in the main hall but suddenly trips and falls on top of the steps.

She immediately gets up and tries to hide the pain she's feeling. She goes back to the door and makes up some excuse. However, she is about to receive some terrible news.

The policewoman brushes aside Murphy's nonsensical action and tells her directly, "I have information regarding James Shepherd. He's dead." Murphy smiles at first thinking it is a joke, but she later sees the seriousness in the cop's eyes and realizes that it is not. She slowly breaks into a frown as her eyes start to widen.

Her niece Sabrina (Sofia Black-D'Elia), on the other hand, starts to laugh as if it is just a practical joke. It remains to be seen how Murphy will move forward with the devastating news.

In the last episode, Sabrina went for her interview with the Yale admissions officer. However, she was high on acid because the jacket she was wearing was laced with illegal substances. It was no surprise that the jacket belonged to Murphy, who had a very sketchy past.

"The Mick" season 2 episode 12 will hit the airwaves on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
