'The Last Ship' season 3 spoilers: premiere date pushed back after Orlando attack; similar scene on the show

The Last Ship TNT

"The Last Ship" season 3 was scheduled to be back on June 12 with back-to-back episodes, but it was cancelled because of the mass shooting in Orlando. The TV network postponed the show out of respect for the victims. It is said that a similar scene is included on the show.

A statement issued by TNT said, "As a result of the shootings this weekend in Orlando, tonight's originally scheduled season premiere of 'The Last Ship' has been postponed. Our hearts are with the victims and their families," Deadline reported.

It added that a shooting spree at a Vietnamese nightspot happened in the first hour of the season premiere.

The first episode, "The Scott Effect," will take CNO Tom Chandler (Eric Dane) and his crew, or what is left of it, to Asia to check on an intel report that a mutation of the Red Flu virus is brewing in the area. Meanwhile, as Captain Slattery (Adam Baldwin) and his crew distribute the cure to different parts of the region, they encounter an armed group and was taken hostage.

This is to be followed by "Rising Sun," where Chandler needs to find a way to bring his old crew back and at the same time face a new and dangerous villain.

"The Last Ship" is a post-apocalyptic drama television series and is based on a novel of the same title. Eighty percent of the world's population was wiped out because of a virus outbreak. The USS Nathan James was in the Artic on a classified mission, thus, the 218 crew was spared of the infectious disease. Dr. Rachel Scott (Rhona Mitra), a paleomicrobiologist, was able to discover a cure. Now they have to race against time to save the remaining humans that are still alive around the world.

TNT failed to mention the new date for the season premiere of "The Last Ship."
