'The Last Jedi' news: Luke revisits his past in new teaser for movie

Fans who look forward to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in "Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi" will be excited to see him, as the Jedi master has been spotted in the Millennium Falcon.

The new trailer, titled "Awake," starts with Luke in a familiar-looking cockpit. Later on, it was revealed to be the cockpit of the Millenium Falcon, the late Han Solo's (Harrison Ford) iconic and trademark smuggler spacecraft. This revealed that Luke may be putting back together the old Millenium Falcon gang with Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) and maybe even Leia (Carrie Fisher), minus Han of course, due to tragic circumstances in the previous movie.

Surprisingly, the teaser also showed a confrontation between his new student Rey (Daisy Ridley) who appears as if she was about to strike down Luke with his own lightsaber. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is also shown in his usual rage fit and black attire.

Finn (John Boyega), a fan-favorite clone trooper turncoat, was also seen battling Captain Phasma (Gwendolyn Christie) in what appears to be a final showdown between the two. Other than that, there seems to be an impending First Order counterattack with Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) at the head of the dark side, similar to Emperor Palpatine's Empire counterattack in "Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back."

It is not yet clear where Luke's true allegiances lie or what he did all those years in exile, as the trailer makes it more confusing. One thing is sure: nostalgic fans of the original "Star Wars" trilogy (Episodes IV, V, and VI) will be pleased once again seeing Luke joining the fight with his old friends.

The Millenium Falcon has been one of the most popular cultural icons ever since Han and Luke first battled the Empire with it back in 1977. The ship, despite its relatively old design, is one of the fastest and most versatile crafts in the "Star Wars" universe

"Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi" is set to arrive on Dec. 15.
